Start/Sit Ratings

How Start/Sit Ratings work

An odds-based score for comparing lineup options at the same position: what goes into it, how to read the bands, and what it doesn't tell you.

Understanding the Start/Sit Rating

An odds-based recommendation score to help compare your lineup options

A higher Start/Sit Rating means a stronger start recommendation when comparing players with the same scoring format, strategy setting, and bookmaker. It is not a projected fantasy-point total, percentile, confidence level, or probability.

The rating combines these inputs and adjustments:

  • Projected yardage (passing, rushing, or receiving)
  • Odds-implied touchdown probability and expected passing touchdowns
  • PPR scoring adjustments
  • Position-specific yardage and touchdown calculations
  • Your strategy setting

Receptions keep their full league PPR weight at every strategy setting. Aggressive raises ratings for players whose touchdown odds are above typical for their position and lowers them for players below typical; Conservative does the reverse. Yardage stays the same, so changing the setting reorders players at each position rather than raising or lowering ratings across the board. This changes the model's weighting; it does not estimate a calibrated floor or ceiling.

Combined-yardage props are shown as additional sportsbook context. They are not included in the Start/Sit Rating.

Game lines (spread, game total and team win probability) are not part of the rating: the sportsbooks' player props already account for how a game is expected to play out. Open a player's Start/Sit Rating tooltip for the detailed rating inputs (touchdown probability, yardage and receptions) and the game lines for context.
